Jaipur Weather and Climate: Photo showing the Amber Fort in the sunshineIf you are planning to visit Jaipur and any part of India, it is essential that you understand what to expect in terms of the weather and climate. The seasons in Jaipur fall into the categories of hot, wet and cool, being strongly influenced due to its proximity to the expansive Thar Desert.

Many people choose to holiday in Jaipur during the winter months, when the climate is at its coolest and most pleasant, although night-time temperatures can quickly plummet, feeling decidedly chilly at times and even reaching 4°C / 39°F or 5°C / 41°F. Therefore, if you are planning to venture outside during the evening, be sure to add a few layers, such as a heavy jumper or jacket. Foggy weather is also commonplace during Jaipur's winter months and can envelop the city during some evenings.

Between April and July, the weather is at its sunniest and it is not unusual to experience climate extremes of more than 40°C / 104°F, particularly in May, which tends to be the hottest by far. Many people choose to stay in their air-conditioned hotel rooms in the heat of the day, venturing outside early in the morning and later in the afternoon, when the city of Jaipur is full of life. An increasing number of restaurants in Jaipur boast outdoor terraces, taking advantage of the balmy evenings.

Monsoon weather is an important part of life in Jaipur and falls between July and August, with the city's Teej Festival celebrating the arrival of the much-needed rains. However, the rainy weather in Jaipur doesn't usually start until the latter part of the day and is rarely a problem, with much of the rain falling overnight or in the afternoon, rarely spoiling the day.
