 Those arriving in Jaipur by bus or train will find that they will often encounter many rather persuasive hotel touts and auto rickshaw drivers, who are looking to make a hefty commission out of you, by taking you to the hotel of their choice. These rickshaw drivers should be avoided at all costs and it always makes good sense to choose your Jaipur accommodation prior to arrival.
To avoid being ripped off, be sure to use the pre-paid auto rickshaw stands, which are to be found at both Jaipur's train and bus stations and will be happy to take you to the hotel of your choice. Some hotels in Jaipur will be happy to pick you up, if you phone ahead and make the necessary arrangements.
The quietest period in Jaipur tends to be between May and September, when many mid-range and luxury hotels reduced their hotel rates sharply, by up to 50 percent. It is at this time of the year when all lodging and accommodation options in Jaipur are at their absolute cheapest and you are most likely to find a genuine bargain.
Jaipur Hotels and Accommodation: Where to Stay - Jaipur, India, IN
Budget hotels are scattered all around Jaipur, with good choices to be found along Ajmer Road, Motilal Atal Marg, Park House Scheme Road, and off Sansar Chandra Marg. Many of Jaipur's cheapest hotels offer excellent value for money, with surprisingly good amenities, often including terraces filled with plants, rooftop restaurants, self-service restaurants, and clean guest rooms. Some of the rooms even boast their own balconies and most have showers with hot water.
At the cheapest end of the scale, a popular alternative to mainstream accommodation in Jaipur can be found at the Jaipur Inn and Bani Park, which features a large dormitory and is regularly frequented by backpackers and travellers. Bani Park is a particularly pleasant part of Jaipur and is full of trees, being just 1.5 km / 1 mile from the Old City district. Many mid-range hotels are also sited within Bani Park, with the best featuring their own swimming pool, cable TV, fairly comprehensive breakfasts, and good views.
At the top end, luxury hotels in Jaipur lie within the narrow streets on the north-eastern side of the Old City, which is an especially charming place to stay and full of history. Further upmarket accommodation includes the Jai Mahal Palace Hotel along Jacob Road, and also the Rambagh Palace on the Bhawani Singh Marg, a Taj Group hotel and once the home of Jaipur's maharaja.
